Safeguarding During Remote Education

At Fishburn Primary School, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children remains our highest priority whether pupils are learning in school or remotely.

If remote education is required, our usual safeguarding procedures continue to apply. Staff remain alert to concerns about a child's welfare and will report concerns promptly in accordance with the Eden Academy Trust Safeguarding Policy 2026–27.

Keeping Children Safe

During periods of remote education, we will:

• maintain appropriate contact with pupils and families;
• remain alert to changes in a child's engagement, behaviour or wellbeing;
• give additional consideration to children who may be more vulnerable, including pupils with SEND and children with a social worker;
• ensure children know how to report a worry or concern;
• use school-approved systems for communication and remote learning;
• maintain appropriate professional boundaries; and
• respond promptly to any safeguarding concerns.

Where difficulties engaging with remote education or contacting a family raise concerns about a child's welfare, these will be considered in accordance with our safeguarding procedures.

Online Safety

Children may spend more time online when accessing remote education. We therefore continue to promote safe, responsible and respectful use of technology.

Children are taught how to recognise online risks, protect personal information and seek help if something they see or experience online makes them feel worried, uncomfortable or unsafe.
