Frequently Asked Questions
At Fishburn Primary School an expectation of at least 96% attendance every academic year is a target set by the Government
What if my child is poorly?
If your child is too poorly to attend school, please inform school by 9.00am each day of absence. Please call 01740 620162. The office is very busy on a morning, you can leave a message it will be actioned and logged. We will attempt to contact you if your child is not in school and we have not had a reason for absence, therefore it is essential we have a current number on which to contact you.
My child has a medical condition, who do I inform and how?
Please inform us if your child has a medical condition, whether that be permanent or temporary, we will ensure the appropriate measures are put in place.
I want to take my child on holiday during term time.
School strongly advises against taking unnecessary absence during term time. We do not authorise any holiday or leave of absence requests unless there are exceptional circumstances. Parents should complete an application form.
Please refer to the Attendance Policy for guidance.
I have moved home and my circumstances have changed, what should I do?
You must inform school immediately if you have moved house or there has been a change in circumstances, if these changes could affect your child, we will of course keep any eye on them and treat any such information with sensitivity.
I am unable to collect my child.
If you have arranged for your child to be collected by someone else, inform their class teacher or let the office know to avoid confusion. If you are going to be delayed collecting your child, please ring the school office to inform them.
What if my child is late for school?
We accept that, on occasion, children can be late for circumstances beyond your control. You must bring them in as soon as you can via the office to ensure they are marked in the register. Any child arriving after 9am will be marked as a U in the register, this is an unauthorised absence mark which does affect their overall attendance.
